Gamma World

Due in large part to the webcomic Endtown and some pre-existing ideas, I am getting tempted by a post-apocalyptic “save the colony then the world” type game. This is not helped by the kingdom building rules being used in the “Legacy of Cyre” campaign ( https://ray-s-notes.obsidianportal.com/ ).

Such a game would revolve around the survivors (the PCs) individual tales of survival and then coming together in one (or more) surviving colonies; and then using that as a base from which to investigate the true causes of the apocalypse and rebuild civilization. The usual, really.

There are some ideas I have, but, divulging them here would detract from a (hypothetical) game. I am not the sort of gamer who thinks a character’s character development should be spelt out in their backstory before the game ever runs.

House Rules:

I would eliminate a lot of the random rolling in character generation and let players choose.

I’d also be more generous with gear…but then again I am a firm believe in letting the character’s skills (and ideas) shine through and not let equipment limitations be a hindrance. Not to say that situational scarcity is a bad thing in a game…just that I err on the side of PCs having the props they need to do cool things.
